<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The relevance of the study of the relationship between the level of qualification of workers in the agro-industrial sector and the financial performance of enterprises is due to the need to improve the efficiency of investments in human capital. The purpose of the work is to identify the degree of influence of educational programs on the profitability of agribusiness in order to substantiate the economic feasibility of investments in personnel training. The research methodology includes a regression analysis of panel data for 150 agribusinesses for 2015–2022, supplemented by a case study of 30 industry leaders. It was found that an increase in the share of employees with specialized higher education by 1% is associated with an increase in profitability by 0.8% (p &lt; 0.01). An increase in the average number of training hours per employee per year by 10% correlates with a 1.5% increase in profits (p &lt; 0.05). Detailed results confirm a statistically and economically significant return on investment in human capital in the agricultural sector.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>уровень квалификации</kwd><kwd>агропромышленность</kwd><kwd>человеческий капитал</kwd><kwd>инвестиции в обучение</kwd><kwd>панельная регрессия</kwd><kwd>кейс-стади</kwd><kwd>прибыльность</kwd><kwd>рентабельность</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>skill level</kwd><kwd>agro-industry</kwd><kwd>human capital</kwd><kwd>investment in training</kwd><kwd>panel regression</kwd><kwd>case study</kwd><kwd>profitability</kwd><kwd>cost effectiveness</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено за счет средств НИОКТР № 124052100046-3 «Фундаментальное обоснование возможностей интеграционных процессов науки, образования и просвещения (на примере новых субъектов Российской Федерации — ДНР, ЛНР, Запорожской и Херсонской областей) как элементов совершенствования методики подготовки учителей-исследователей».</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The study was carried out using funds from R&amp;D project No. 124052100046-3 “Fundamental substantiation of the possibilities of integration processes of science, education and enlightenment (using the example of new subjects of the Russian Federation — DPR, LPR, Zaporozhzhya and Kherson regions) as elements of improving the methodology for training research teachers”.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Huffman, W.
